Bali Endangered Animal Rescue - (B E A R)
We invite you, our friends, to assist us in creating
B.E.A.R. Sanctuary for highly endangered animal species of
Indonesia. Your support is strongly appreciated. If anybody
has the courage to step forward as quickly as possible to
contribute whatever one is able to do, without waiting for
others, the Sanctuary will soon become a reality. A small
step in the right direction is a huge step forward towards
the survival of the great and unique diversity, all the
wonders and beauty of our planet.
Let's do it together, because the more hands involved, the
quicker animals now in cages can be rescued and
rehabilitated.
The Orangutan species will be faced by extinction within
the next five years, due to the current trend of logging,
fires and deforesting. (WWF)
"HELP US SAVE WILDLIFE NOW"
MISSION STATEMENT:
B.E.A.R.- Bali Endangered Animal Rescue is a non-profit
organization whose missions are:
- Preservation of highly endangered wildlife of Indonesia
- Rehabilitation of these species into their natural environment
- Education and information of the local and global population of this pilot project.
A Pilot Project:
Our center is a special wildlife reserve-not opened to the public. It is located in Central Bali. We are committed to take care and reproduce our endangered animals in semi-captivity on our man made islands. Later they will be released into the wild, in a safe environment, guaranteed not to be disturbed. Our mission is of utmost importance, as it is the 23rd hour for many of the highly endangered wildlife of Indonesia.
We will take care of orphaned orangutans and other confiscated, destitute, caged and injured animals. With experts to take care of them, they will be nursed back to health.
Top veterinarians and scientists who are passionate and dedicated to this cause will give their expertise to provide the ideal diets and health care to our charges in love and compassion.
EDUCATION THROUGH BEAR
At our center, Veterinarians and post graduate Scientists will get hands on experience with wildlife in semi-captivity.
We will encourage PhD. students to do their thesis projects observing our animals.
We offer training and employment to locals. Education and professional expertise will be provided by international volunteers who will then qualify for their own work on Zoos, safari parks and preserves.
OUR CURRENT STATUS
Presently, we have a house-office in Ubud, where we will initially take care of baby Orangutans and other highly endangered confiscated species.
Currently, B.E.A.R. is seeking funding from interested parties and we need to raise funds for the following:
- Infrastructure of the rescue sanctuary, and securing the land
- Staff accommodation-housing and provision for operation cost
- Cages and water moats/ islands
- Storage facilities
- Initial veterinary supplies
- Office equipment
When the initial phase will be completed, our ongoing fundraising activities will go towards the animal food supply, animal transport, expanding of the facilities, maintenance, and local staff-wages. (Most of the foreigners are volunteers).
